Season of Thanks November 2008

 You're Invited...Please Come!

This month I will be holding my very own Workshop at my home, on Wednesday, November 19th, at 6:30 pm. Please RSVP right away to ensure you have a seat--every RSVP gets a FREE goodie bag and favor.

Join me for a night of Fall festivities and some homemade pumpkin pie! We'll be using autumn colors and themes to create a number of FREE, delightful projects you can keep, or give away!  I'll be sure to provide written instructions for each project so you can recreate it at home, if you'd like. I will also have some Fall and Thanksgiving cards, projects, and home décor on display, so don't forget your camera!

Although this is my Workshop, YOU can qualify for Hostess Benefits! For every $35 in merchandise you order, earn one entry in a drawing for a Mystery Hostess prize. One lucky winner will earn the free Hostess stamp sets, and another will win their choice of free Hostess merchandise! If you cannot come to the workshop, your purchases will still qualify you for the drawing, as long as you get your paid order to me before the end of my Workshop (9pm) on November 19th.

I'm so very thankful for your support and patronage, and I hope you can join me for this fun evening!

GIFT GIVING: Stampin' Up!® has prepared two flyers to help you give crafting and home décor gifts this year. The second is the Holiday Gift List, which lists suggested gift items in a price breakdown, for your budgeting convenience!

This really makes it super easy for your loved ones to feel good about getting you a gift they know you'll LOVE! I have a special form you can send out by email or snail mail to let folks know you're registered with me. I also offer Gift Certificates, redeemable through me, for Stampin' Up!® catalog product.

HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA SALE: As you are analyzing your gift-giving budget and needs, keep in mind that Stampin' Up!® will be offering its FIRST EVER online sale this year. From November 26th through December 1st, you'll enjoy special pricing through the Online Ordering portal of my web site! I don't even have all the details yet, so just plan to hop on over to http://kimberley.stampinup.net during the sale period, and then click on the SHOP NOW button near the top right of the screen. Then be sure to check the Specials link on the left sidebar, to see all the promotions that are available to you! (If you would rather place your order through me so you can ask questions and get interactive help, I believe you will still be able to take advantage of special pricing--so please place your orders whichever way you feel most comfortable!)

Country Living Holiday Collection Stampin' Kit

CountryLivingBlogEntryPic.jpg

Stampin' Up!® is offering a Holiday Collection Stampin' Kit this year, and it is featured in an eight-page spread in the December/Holiday issue of Country Living magazine! I have my copy of this issue already, so just ask me about it next time you see me. You can also read all about the kit on my blog HERE, and check out this cool video tutorial of Shelli Gardner (Co-Founder and CEO of Stampin' Up!) creating an ornament from the kit!

You get a great deal on the kit at $49.95, with all the chipboard, patterned paper, stamps, ink pads, and adhesives needed for assembly. You'll even get cord for tying hangers--plus ribbon, brads and glitter for embellishment--with this kit that makes over 60 ornaments! Everything comes in a convenient and durable Craft Keeper reasealable plastic envelope, with full-color pictures and instructions to get you started. You can use the ornaments individually, hang them as a garland, use them on your holiday cards, and even use them to make custom decorated tags to place on gifts. And after all is said and done, you still have a valuable stamp set and ink pads, which can be used for future projects!

BONUS OFFERS: Because I think this is such a great deal, and I really would like for you to take advantage of it, I am offering two specials in conjunction with your purchase of the kit. As my customers, you may choose either 5 yards of FREE 5/8" Riding Hood Red Grosgrain Ribbon, or 20% off any adhesive product in the catalog (limit: 1 of each different product), when you purchase your Country Living Holiday Collection Kit through me either from me personally, or through the SHOP NOW feature of my SU! web site.

Coming Soon...

Every year Stampin' Up! holds an annual sale called the Sale-A-Bration (SAB). The next Sale-A-Bration will be held February 1st, through March 30th, 2009.

It may seem like a long time from now, but when you're planning for a big party, you want to let everyone know as far ahead as possible!

Traditionally, the Sale-A-Bration has featured FREE STAMP SETS. Usually, for every $50 in merchandise you purchase during the SAB, you get to choose one free limited edition item. The free items in the past have been stamp sets, rub-on packages, background stamps, and even scrapbooking kits. The value of these is usually in the $20 range, so it's a great deal...you spend $50 and get a $20 additional value in return!

It's never too early to book your workshop during the Sale-A-Bration period, and there are so many fun FREE items to choose from, that you will want to book and attend multiple workshops to collect all the ones you want. So, email me at procrastistamper@gmail.com or call me today at 719-205-5957 to book your workshop in the Colorado Springs area. Consider booking one workshop at the beginning of the sales period, and one near the end. However you schedule it, you'll want to reserve your date with me as soon as possible, as this is an extremely popular sale event and it tends to be my busiest time of year!

Even if you are a long distance customer, you can have a workshop and gather orders--just ask me about how we can best set that up for you! And, you can always order online and still earn FREE Sale-A-Bration sets, so be sure to mark your calendars!

Stampin' Tip of the Month

Static & Dryness

As we enter into the dry months of winter, you may notice some changes in your crafting supplies. Most notably, your ink pads will dry out faster, and your card stock and paper may become full of static! I have a few suggestions to help keep you on top of these situations:

Oh No, my ink is all dried up!

1) Reinkers - take an inventory of your ink pads, and purchase reinkers for all the colors you really like, concentrating first on stocking up on the ones you'll use for your holiday crafts. This is your "Plan A", though the rest of the plans may save you from having to use your reinkers very often.

2) Storage - try to find a place to store your ink pads where they will not be in the airflow pathway of heating vents. If you have no other place to put them, consider placing your ink pads inside resealable plastic bags, and maybe even placing those bags inside a plastic container. However you choose to store them, make sure each individual full-size ink pad container is stored face-up. In this orientation, your ink pad is actually hanging upside-down, so that the ink is closest to the surface of the pad when you open it to ink up a stamp! [Note: store Ink Spots upside down, and dual-tipped markers horizontally.]

3) Usage - as tedious as it may seem, closing your ink pads just as soon as you are finished inking up a stamp can save the life of your pad. Not only does it prevent evaporation, it also prevents dust, glitter, or powder (from embossing) from sticking to the surface. [TIP: if you get glitter or fuzzies on your ink pad, dab the surface of the pad with the sticky side of packing tape, or a lint roller, to remove the gunk!]

4) Choosing Ink - remember that if you want your ink to remain wet for techniques like heat embossing, or using Heat & Stick powder, you will want to use a Craft Ink, or perhaps the Versamark pad. Classic inks soak into paper and dry incredibly fast, so they are not appropriate for these techniques.

Rats, it's all sticking together!

For static problems, I can offer 3 solutions:

1) Embossing Buddy - before stamping on card stock you want to emboss, pat the Embossing Buddy over the surface. The fine powder prevents the embossing powder from sticking anywhere except the wet ink.

2) Dryer Sheets - these are your best friend if you are stamping in Colorado in the winter time! Just wipe a dryer sheet over your card stock to take away static, wipe it over your Powder Pal trays to keep your excess powders from sticking to that, wipe them around the outside of your jars of glitter or embossing powder before using them, and even wipe the acrylic cutting pads for your Big Shot while you are using it, to keep the static from building up on them.

3) Static Guard Spray - there is a spray you can commonly find in the checkout aisle at stores like Wal-Mart, called Static Guard. I think it comes in a dark blue, small can, with a bright orange lid. It is used to spray on clothing, such as skirts, while you are wearing it, to keep it from sticking to your legs and body. I recommend this product as a last resort because it is wet. It is a spray, and will leave a residue that you can still see a little bit after it has dried. If you feel you need to use it on a project, use it on the back side. Also, this spray feels like it gets caught in my throat, so I recommend you spray it outside if you at all have the chance.

If you run a humidifier in the winter, this may help, but I recommend you do not set it up in your stamp room. You can experience problems if your paper has too much moisture in it, just as you can if it has too little.
